At number one, Atlas Genius is an Australian indie rock duo consisting of brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery. “Trojans”, the second single from When It Was Now (their debut album) is an upbeat yet passionately mellow dance track with serious 70s vibes. The chorus is undeniably catchy making it the best summer track I’ve heard since “You’re On Fire by They Might Be Giants.

2. Yellow Ostrich – “WHALE”
Released in 2011, WHALE exemplifies metaphorical themes at it’s finest, with a deep sea mood filled with sub space drums. The bridge leads into an array of beautiful percussion breaks that, by the end of the song, will definitely have the entire car bellowing out whatever lyrics managed to catch on.
3. Girls – “Vomit”
Girls, which is ironically enough a band of men, gently, but aggressively, bring a strong sense of gray emotion. This soul searching song of calm, wave washing guitars, births one of the most amazing guitar solos this decade has ever seen. Why this song isn’t more popular is totally beyond me.
4. Kanye West – “I’m In It”
The most sexed up song Ye’s ever given us, Mr. West shows his lustful side for a change. Maybe it’s his ode to his past experiences of night life as he reincarnates himself into a family man for Kim and baby North.
5. Washed Out – “Don’t Give Up”
If you follow Washed Out then you’re aware of how creative the dude is. His new album is set to take on the world of music. In “Don’t Give Up” the instrumentation varies and the laid back, easy going feels of a beach house summer take place. If you close your eyes, you can not only understand the words, but you can feel the soft yet bright colors being emitted as the tune plays.
6. Action Bronson – “Strictly 4 My Jeeps”
Last, but not least, Action Bronson brings us “Strictly 4 My Jeeps,” a vintage feeling hip-hop track with hungry rhymes that is accompanied by a hilarious ass video filled with obese women, five star meals, and, of course, RiFF RaFF.
